Elina’s specialty is explaining the composition of food, where it comes from, how it’s processed and what components consumers should recognize and manipulate to make fantastic meals.  The public is afraid of food “chemicals” because they don’t understand them.  Her goal is to marry important food industry facts and food chemistry, with simple, delicious cuisine.

She highlights examples such as enhancing the juiciness of chicken or flakiness of pie crust as part of her mission. Elina emphasizes understanding the composition of food and which attributes to take advantage of, to allow amateur chefs to manipulate the food they cook in their favor.

With hints of witty sarcasm and a food science degree to boot, Elina’s blog highlights important facts about the food industry and the direct effect on the everyday consumer, with subjects such as food recalls, proper food safety practices and the interpretation of food labels.

Elina graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Journalism and Media Studies and Food Science.
